Meet Prakash Katuwal, the leading figure in Nepal’s culinary industry. He was born and brought up in Jhapa. He struggled during the early days of his life as he used to do household work and feed livestock before attending the school. He grew up in hardship and at times used to rely on wild roots for food. After completing education he moved to Kathmandu for more opportunities.
Culinary Training and International experience
In Kathmandu, Prakash Katuwal started his journey in the culinary industry as a waiter. But later on his close friend influenced him to become a chef that made him join Diploma classes of Chinese food in Kathmandu. He even trained in a Chinese Restaurant named China and World (CW). Later on he moved to Guangzhou, China to learn and sharpen his skills and learned Cantonese cuisine over there. While working there for a long period of time he became much experienced and gained new skills which made him decide to come back to Nepal and start a new journey here. Even after returning back he worked as executive chef in different hotels and restaurants.
Founding Alev Kebab Sultanate in Kathmandu
Krishna Poudel was the person who taught and supported Prakash Katuwal during his ups and downs. Prakash Katuwal even idolized Mr. Krishna Poudel for his teaching during his early days. Later on their vision aligned and opened Alev Kebab Sultanate which is located in Tangalwood, Kathmandu making it a premier destination for fine dining. As the head chef and managing Director of Alev Kebab Sultanate Prakash Katuwal designed the menu of Alev Kebab Sultanate himself

He had lots of ups and downs during his trainee days he also almost left being Chef as he was not able to remember names of the spices and ingredients but he never gave up, followed his passion and became an inspiration to many upcoming young aspiring chefs.
